The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 349(1)(b) and (2), 417(1)[1] and 428(3) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000[2], hereby make the following Regulations: Citation and commencement 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (Disclosure of Confidential Information) (Amendment) Regulations 2003, and come into force on 3rd April 2003. Amendment of the principal regulations
(This note is not part of the Regulations) These Regulations implement Directive 2000/64/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 7 November 2000, which amended Council Directives 85/611/EEC, 92/49/EEC, 92/96/EEC and 983/22/EEC with regard to the exchange of confidential information between the competent authorities of States in the European Economic Area and those of third countries. The Regulations amend regulations 2 and 9 of the principal regulations so that the amendments made by Directive 2000/64/EC are incorporated into the relevant references in the principal regulations.
