BUILDING AND BUILDINGS

The Building Regulations (Amendment) Regulations 1992

Laid before Parliament 28th May 1992
Coming into force 26th June 1992

    The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and 3(1) of, and paragraphs 2 and 10 of Schedule 1 to, the Building Act 1984[1], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:
    Citation and commencement
        1.    These Regulations may be cited as the Building Regulations (Amendment) Regulations 1992 and shall come into force on 26th June 1992.
    Amendment of the Building Regulations 1991
        2.    Regulation 13 of the Building Regulations 1991[2] (full plans) shall be amended as follows—
       (a) for paragraph (2) there shall be substituted the following paragraph—
        "  (2)  
          (a) Full plans shall be deposited in duplicate, of which the local authority may retain one copy; and
          (b) where Part B of Schedule 1 (Fire safety) imposes a requirement in relation to proposed building work, an additional two copies of any such plans as demonstrate compliance with that requirement shall be deposited, both of which may be retained by the local authority." ; and
       (b) after paragraph (5) there shall be inserted the following paragraph—
        "  (6)  Paragraph (2)(b) shall not require the deposit of additional copies of plans where the proposed building work relates to the erection, extension or material alteration of a dwelling-house or flat."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)
    These Regulations amend the Building Regulations 1991 so as to require the deposit with the local authority of two additional sets of plans demonstrating compliance with fire safety requirements except where the proposed building work relates to the erection etc of a dwelling-house or flat.
